A few blocks out, 1960s subdivisions such as Richmond Gardens and Brighouse Estates give way to detached streets.
Richmond-Brighouse is the elevated terminus of the Canada Line, and the bus loop beside it collects the 401 to 410 local routes, the 430 to Metrotown and the 301 to Newton. No. 3 Road, Westminster Highway and Granville Avenue are the main roads. Downtown Vancouver is one train, no transfer.
Richmond Centre mall sits on the station's doorstep. Minoru Park covers 18 hectares with arenas, the Clement Track, the Richmond Library and Cultural Centre and the Minoru Centre for Active Living, which has six pools. Richmond Hospital and the Gateway Theatre are in the same few blocks. Brighouse Elementary is the local public school.
Buyers here often want one-seat transit to downtown and the airport, and downsizers come from the detached streets nearby. Lulu Island sits about a metre above sea level behind the dike system, so ask about flood construction levels and any flood covenant on title.
