Lawyer vs Notary Public
In BC, either a lawyer or a notary public can handle a straightforward residential conveyance (property transfer). Notaries are typically less expensive ($800–$1,500) than lawyers ($1,200–$2,500). However, if your transaction has complications (title issues, estate sales, unusual contract terms), a real estate lawyer is advisable.
